DESCRIPTION:David Greenwald will be presenting at the Roundup Lodge located at 91 Acklin Hill Road\, San Lorenzo\, NM\, on the Settlement Complexity and the Role of Great Kivas in Tularosa Canyon. This presentation considers the distribution of several great kivas in the canyon\, their associations with irrigations systems\, and the degree of organizational complexity represented by the great kivas and irrigation communities in the Canyon. This presentation is free and open to the public. A potluck starts at 6:00 pm\, followed by a short business meeting. The presentation follows at approximately 6:45 pm.

DESCRIPTION:David Greenwald will be presenting on the Astronomical Significance of the Creekside Village Great Kiva: Prehistoric Time Keeping as part of the Launch Pad series. Presentation starts at 9:00 AM in the New Horizons Dome Theater and Planetarium. During this presentation\, I will share our interpretations from ongoing investigations about how the ancient Jornada Mogollon monitored the sun’s passage across the eastern horizon from the great kiva to track the annual cycle of the sun\, monitoring seasonal events that relate to agriculture. This is a free event and is open to the public.
